Like Animals

I actually came across these guys today! I have heard of them in the past, and even seen their Myspace plastered across the interwebs. Today I gave Like Animals a try, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with sounds I heard!

Like Animals is a 3 piece band from Orillia, Ontario consisting of Will on Drums, Jamie on Guitar and Vocals and Jesse on Bass and Vocals. These guys draw influences from some very innovative and trail blazing bands and musicians such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton, The Fall of Troy, The Mars Volta and more. Usually when a band lists off any of those influences i’m generally left unimpressed with the bi-product, but Like Animals has found a way to incorporate some of the best elements of these bands and contribute their own ideas to create a truly amazing sound.

Its very difficult to pigeonhole these guys in one genre, because the sheer number of different sounds coming out of this band is extraordinary. All I can say is that you truly have to listen for yourself to make your own opinion of these guys. I honestly wish that more people would venture to the lengths of experimentation that is showcased here.

You can catch Like Animals at The Armouries North Room in Lindsay on May 21st with Beyond the Shadows, and again at The Foxx Lounge in Barrie! I personally hope to see Like Animals play in the Durham Region sometime soon 🙂 and hopefully they put up a release to be reviewed on TRBP!
